Men and Women Can Get Married by Law

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Lance Winslow Lately we have sure heard a lot about gay and lesbian marriage and the court case in Massachusetts has come back against gay married and provided a huge set back for the gay activists. Some gay activists were shocked and many of the Christian Right were completely relieved. But what is the big deal really over? Some think it is due to the radical and flagrant fringe and their running around calling everyone homophobic and acting persnickety. I recently talked of this issue with some gay activists, but I can see no one is interested in solving this issue, I have raised this issue with the gay fringe and no one on that side much cares. And so, I hereby predict that the goal of gay marriage for G & L Community will not be a near-term win. But rather sometime within the next 10-years or just after, depending on public sentiment, political wind and that wild card of the gay fringe; since I am usually right and this is hardly a linear thought, and since I have traveled to every city in the United States over 10,000 people, I am pretty confident of what I see? So, take it for what it is or dont, but as the future does unfold well, maybe I can post on a future Blog; I told you so? Fact: The Gay Fringe is preventing the Gay and Lesbian Community from reaching its goal of marriage. Until this fringe is brought back into check, the movement will be slow coming, as the silent majority has stopped listening. Additionally this fringe is a time bomb waiting to go off and I am seriously concerned a few of theses gay fringe may go do random shootings on regular Americans. I fear for the safety of the nation. Consider all this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. A Sugar and Spice Tea Party

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Gail Leino A Victorian nursery rhyme says Sugar and Spice and everything nice, thats what little girls are made of. Hosting a Sugar and Spice Tea Party is a great way to have a lot of fun while pretending to be grown up. Children can help with preparation activities such as like preparing finger sandwiches, decorating cookies, to arranging flowers as place markers at the table. Guests can be invited to bring dress up clothes or vintage style hats or, alternatively the hostess can furnish a selection of dress up items (look at your local Goodwill for some great items at little cost). The dressed up ladies may enjoy participating in a treasure hunt. The hostess hides a jewelry box full of old fashioned costume jewelry (brooches, necklaces, bracelets, etc.) the perfect fashion accessories for the dress up game. Then, provide riddles or poems to help the children figure out where the items are hid. Each clue takes them to another, and to another, and so on. For example, a starting clue could be something like: Welcome ladies, a treasure you will find, if you follow all the clues that I have left behind. Ring! Ring! Hello? If you need to find the phone, where would you go? Of course the guests will head straight to the nearest phone where another clue tag hangs waiting for them. Other clue hiding locations could be in plants, under chairs, behind pictures, in the garden, anywhere inside or outside that you can think of. Make the clues easy enough the guests can find them quickly and have enough clues to run around having fun. Finally, have them find the jewelry box and then they can all put on jeweled accessories to go with their hats and dresses! Or, alternatively, you can have various plastic gems, trims, and other shiny decorative items in the jewelry box and then have basic wood cutouts with jewelry pins attached on the back of them. The guests can design their own jeweled treasures by gluing stones, trims, laces, and other shiny items onto the wooden shape cutouts. Each guest then has a great keepsake of the Sugar and Spice Tea Party afternoon. Once they have their proper accessories, it is time for the fashion show. Put on some music, create a run way and watch them model their fashions. Taking digital pictures will allow you to send each of the young ladies home with pictures of their modeling debut. One last game that is fun and easy to set up is a tea cup relay. Divide the guests into two teams. Put a tea cup on a table behind each team of guests. Give each guest their own sugar cube to hold. Then, give one team member a tea spoon (the smaller it is the harder!). Each member will place their sugar cube on the tea spoon and run the relay race track without touching the sugar cube with their hands (if it falls off, they can use their hands to pick it back up). Then, when they get back to the beginning, they drop their cub into their teams teacup and pass the spoon to the next member in line. First team that gets all their cubes in their teacup wins. Finish the Sugar and Spice afternoon off with a sit down tea party complete with cups, saucers, fresh flowers, and some sugar and spice cookie treats. This party will be one each of the guests remember for a long time. Enjoy! The Five Most Common Joint Venture Marketing Mistakes To Avoid

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By Habiba Abubakar Joint Venture marketing has become a highly popular way for small businesses to maximize their profits. When two or more businesses combine their resources synergistically, it creates greater marketing impact and bigger profits than either can have alone. Doing joint ventures has many benefits, but there are also many mistakes that can be made. These mistakes can be costly, not only in revenue, but in credibility with your client base. These are not the only joint venture marketing mistakes made by small businesses, but as these are the most common, avoiding or correcting them will certainly put you on the right path. Here are the five most common mistakes to avoid: 1. Not taking the time to ensure that your partner has great-quality products and services and a solid reputation. When you choose a partner, it is imperative to choose one that has high-quality products and services as well as a good reputation within the industry. Sometimes, a company may look better on the surface than it really is. Your credibility is at stake if you partner up with a company that has sub-standard products and services or one that is popular for bad customer service. Do your research about your potential joint venture partners and review their products and services before endorsing them as these issues will reflect on you and your business! 2. Offering your partner too small of a deal There has to be an incentive for your partner to engage with you, and offering too small of a deal wont make it worth their time and effort. Remember that endorsers with a large, targeted and loyal client base are the most wanted joint venture partners. Theyll partner with others if you offer a percentage of the profits thats too low. So make this mental note… if they are worth pursuing, they are worth sharing the profits with. 3. Simply handing over your client list This can constitute breach of contract with your clients if you have committed to their privacy. Youve also worked very hard to build your client list, and this forms part of the value you have to contribute to the joint venture relationship. If you simply hand over your client list, you have no point of leverage. 4. Not devising an exit strategy Even the best of relationships can go sour, or simply not work. Make sure you have an open door to leave the joint venture if for any reason it is not working out. 5. Committing to a long term relationship from the beginning, without testing your strategy first Any joint venture should involve a trial period to see if profits will show a real upwards trend, or if the idea is a valid one. If you sign a long term contract, you may be stuck in a no-win situation with no way to escape. As with any marketing strategy, test in small numbers first, before rolling out fully. Joint Venture marketing is very lucrative, and with some forethought and planning, can help springboard your business to new success levels. Just make sure to do your homework right from the start, and avoid these pitfalls to ensure high returns on your investment of time, money and effort. Copyright 2005 by Habiba Abubakar and Emprez. Add Some Enchantment To Your Backyard With A Garden Gazebo

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By J.C. Taylor Imagine having a place in your own backyard where you can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. Imagine this place being the focal point of a beautiful flower garden, a part of the landscaping. If this sounds like a place that you would like to have in your own backyard, the addition of a garden gazebo can make this a reality. A gazebo is a freestanding, open-sided, roofed, outdoor structure that can serve many purposes. Gazebos come in various shapes and sizes and can be constructed from many different materials. A decorative gazebo that adds beauty and elegance to a garden is known as a garden gazebo. A garden gazebo is often added to the outdoor landscaping as a focal point as well as a place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The most common shape for a garden gazebo is hexagon-shaped (six-sided) or octagon-shaped (eight-sided) to give it a round appearance. There are some simple ways to really make your gazebo beautify your garden area when it comes to landscaping: Build your garden around the gazebo instead of building a gazebo somewhere in your garden. A garden that is purposely built around a gazebo makes the gazebo a much stronger focal point than when a gazebo is merely incorporated near an existing garden. Carefully select your plants and flowers for the purpose of going around the gazebo. Choose flowers and plants of various colors and height to give your gazebo a more natural look. As a general rule, the full height of plants growing around the gazebo should never be more than 1/3 the height of the gazebo. When selecting your garden gazebo plan, take into consideration the designs that are built with lattice or trellises on them. Having these structures on the gazebo provides a place for vine plants or flowers to grow onto, making the gazebo come to life. Get started planning your garden gazebo today. http://www.need-info.com/gazebo can help you find the perfect gazebo for your outdoor living area including garden gazebo, amish gazebo, hot tub gazebo, spa gazebo. Relationship Advice That Really Works

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By Elaine Olden Everywhere you turn now a days someone claims to have all the answers to how to repair and prevent troubles in your relationship. Relationship advice is printed in every magazine and scattered through out the Internet. So how do you know what really works and will prevent troubles in the relationship before it even begins. There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to relationship advice, but there are a few tips that can prevent troubles and also repair a rocky relationship. These tips work for every type of relationship and are not focused one a particular group of couples. The first key of relationship advice is to communicate with your partner. Take the time to find out about their day and how they are feeling. When something is bothering you speak with your partner about it, do not hold it inside and cope with it internally. This can cause resentment and lead to fights in the future. It is much better to talk it out when you are both calm and not angry. Take time and spend dinner together to just talk about daily life, every conversation does not have to be a deep conversation. You must make sure that you are communicating, silence can be a killer of even the best relationship. Another great tip of relationship advice is to let your partner know that you appreciate them. Everyone wants to feel loved and be thanked for his or her hard work and dedication to the relationship. Instead of nagging or speaking about flaws of your partner try praising them for something they have done. If you look it is not hard to find something positive to say. Many relationship advice columns encourage partners to send flowers or buy a gift as a way to show appreciation. In todays economy it takes most of the money to simply pay the bills so there is no need for an expensive gift. Write your lover a note or send them a card in the mail. Try your hand at a poem or steamy letter, you will be pleasantly surprised when they read your letter that was written from the heart. This piece of relationship advice is one that you have already heard over and over again. Honesty is very important in a relationship. Granted you should be honest with your mate, but you also have a right to your own thoughts and personal feelings. What many relationship advice tidbits will not indulge is the fact that you are not obligated to share your every waking thought and feeling with your partner. Everyone deserves a certain amount of personal privacy. So in a nutshell tell the truth about your whereabouts and whom you were with, but you can keep your personal feelings and fantasies to yourself. The best piece of relationship advice that can benefit any couple is take time for yourselves. Couples become so involved with their jobs and families that they do not spend time together as a couple. This causes bonds to weaken and the fire that they once knew to disappear. It is important to plan time together. Send the kids to grandmothers house for the night and take in a movie or dinner. Take a couple of hours a day to sit and talk, hold hands and relax together. It does not have to be anything fancy, just being together can help you rekindle the flame. If you think you do not have time for this relationship advice tidbit think again. Pencil it in on the calendar and make a date. You are more likely to keep the date if it is written on the calendar and you have made plans in advance. You can not afford to ignore your relationship because you are not guaranteed happiness; you must find it for yourself. This article on relationship advice is simply that advice. These tips are meant to supplement your relationship and help you find the basics of a good relationship. If you follow these relationship advice tips you will be on the right road to happiness for a long time to come. Want to read more free information about dating? Tulips

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Kristy Annely Tulips are one of the first varieties of flowers to bloom as spring takes over from winter. Easy to recognize, tulip hybrids are available in an enormous range of shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. They bloom from mid to late spring, but different varieties have slightly different times for blooming. Tulips flower when the last of the snow is turning to water in the soil. But, you can grow tulips even before spring, as a tulip bulb can bloom in any type of soil. This makes for a great variety in the number of places you can have tulip blossoms: in a flowerbed, under a shrub, in a container, or even at the corners of a rock garden. There are 15 tulip divisions, with a variety of large-flowered hybrids, making up 11 of the 15 divisions based on flowering time, flower size and form, and plant shade. Other species and species hybrids constitute the 4 other groups. Tulip gardens are delightful and simple to set up because tulip bulbs are readily available; they are reasonably priced and have an assortment of colors and forms. You can purchase these bulbs from garden outlets and bulb catalogs that sell large-flowered garden tulips in packs of mixed colors based on group or in packs of named individual varieties. You can combine the large-flowered garden tulips with other flowers such as wallflowers and forget-me-nots, or you can use them as bedding plants. You can also plant them and distribute clusters amongst perennials or other bulbs. You can use the smaller species of tulips with stunning effect in rockeries, container gardens, or as borders, as their form is delicate and there is less choice of colors than among garden tulips. Tulips can be satisfying to grow if you choose large, healthy-looking bulbs, have well-drained alkaline soil and plant them in a sunny spot. Family Patterns - The Abused Turning Into The Abusers

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Pauline Logan Last week in the news was a story of a little girl who was raped and killed by a family member, how dreadful we all say but then a month later how many of us actually remember this story?Unfortunately this story is all familiar and as much as we like to think it doesnt happen very often child abuse is more frequent than any of us wish to realise with the statistics standing at 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 seven boys being abused. We all gasp at the horror of the situation when a new story is told on the news, how could anyone do this to a child but it happens everyday. The NSPCC has been running its full stop campaign for some time now and I am not sure how effective it is but even if it stops one child being abused it is worth the advertising etc. I did a search on Goggle today and it came back with 1,210,000 hits, how can we have so many sites and yet so little seems to be done? We learn through example and repeat the patterns of our parents; we say things to our children that our parents said to us as we were growing up and also, unfortunately, sometimes also do the things which were done to us. It is very important to show our children the correct way to behave and although we are fully aware that some children still go astray most grow up to be just like their parents. If you have been abused as a child or you know someone else who has then you will understand how it takes over your whole life, makes you feel unloved, guilty ashamed and often suicidal. It can lead to some people abusing children themselves in later life because this is what they assume is supposed to happen because it happened to them, they repeat the patterns of the person who abused them. often because we feel we are not worthy of feeling love we cannot show it either, we do not know how to relate to the people we care about and end up hurting them. In cases where children have been severely abused it often turns out that the abuser has been abused themselves. According to John Bowly, child and family psychiatrist, On the surface abusing individuals vary from being cold, rigid, obsessional and censorious to be very passive, unhappy and disorganised. Yet emotionally they have much in common. Among features reported as especially frequent among abusive mothers we find the following: prone to periods of intense anxiety punctuated by outbursts of violent anger, they are said to impulsive and immature. Although their dependency needs are described as exceptionally strong they are extremely distrustful and consequently unable or unwilling to make close relationships. Socially they are isolated. Having no-one else to turn to, many of them seek care and comfort from one of their own children whom they treat as though they were much older than they are. As regards childhood experience many researchers have noted that most of such women have had a miserable childhood and as one pair of researchers put it have been deprived of basic mothering. In as study by Baldwin (1977) of thirty eight children who had been physically abused to an exceptionally severe degree, tow fifths of the parents had suffered physical abuse themselves and more than half severe of prolonged mental abuse. Baldwin call attention to the marked tendency of many of these parents, when interviewed , to make broad generalisations about their childhood in which an idealised picture is presented, a picture that stands in stark contrast to the grim episodes described when detailed questions are asked. In this field inexperienced clinicians and interviewers are likely to be gravely misled. I should quickly add that not everyone who has been abused goes onto do this and it proves that we can actually change the patterns of our parents. Some people decide to stay single because they are too afraid to let anyone else in who might hurt them to they simply do now know how to show love and affection. All in all when you have been abused it is hard to come to terms with and I would advocate anyone who has been through this to get professional help, you do not have to repeat the patterns of you parents, you can be taught new patterns, you are never too old to learn to love. Sporanox

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=R._Drysdale] R. Drysdale Sporanox is the trade name for the antifungal drug, itraconazole. The drug can be taken by mouth, as capsules or liquid, or given by injection. It interrupts fungal growth by interfering with the organism’s attempts to build a cell membrane, the protective barrier that each fungal cell uses to wall itself off from its surroundings (imagine if something was preventing your body from maintaining your skin - you would have difficulty surviving). Sporanox is used for the treatment of various fungal infections, including tissue and lung infections, and onychomycosis (fungal infection of the fingernails or toenails). People who have problems with their immune systems, such as organ transplant recipients and AIDS patients, are more susceptible to fungal infection, and this powerful drug is useful for treating their diseases. When the problem is uncomplicated onychomycosis, however, the drug is only recommended for people with healthy, normal immune systems. Sporanox is used for fungal nail infections, but it is probably not the best, or the most popular choice. Studies indicate that it may only work about half of the time, and potential Sporanox side effects range from mild to extremely serious. Itraconazole should not be given to pregnant women, to anyone who has a history of congestive heart failure, or to anyone thought to be allergic to Sporanox or related drugs. Rarely, patients have suffered serious liver damage, and dangerous interactions with other drugs are also a concern. When Sporanox is used for serious life threatening fungal infections, the benefit may outweigh the risk; however, for a simple fungal nail infection, patients should weigh possible Sporanox side effects, and the probability of success, against the primarily cosmetic benefit. Is Sporanox worth it? Patients should talk with their doctors about the alternatives for treatment. There are other prescription drugs available (none come without side effects, however) that work better. There is also a host of natural remedies and traditional treatments which, while not clinically tested, are generally much cheaper and safer than the prescription drugs. When the problem is not serious, these consumer-tested remedies are worth a look. Most of them are topical remedies, so the risk of Sporanox side effects, or other problems related to an oral medication, are removed. When natural remedies are taken orally, they consist of everyday foods or herbal mixtures (herbs can be toxic too, so do your own research) unlikely to cause problems. Unless there is some compelling reason to use it, Sporanox is not the best choice. R. Drysdale is a freelance writer with more than 25 years experience as a health care professional. She is a contributing editor to [http://nail-fungus-treatment.blogspot.com] Nail Fungus Treatment, a blog dedicated to the treatment of fingernail and toenail fungus. Career Tips: How To Start A New Career

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By Neen James These days most people accept that jobs are not for life anymore. People are more mobile and much more likely to change jobs every few years and even careers a number of times throughout their lives. And it is increasingly common that we may also find that we need to change jobs because of retrenchments, redundancies and closures. Having confidence in your skills and experience and your ability to deal with the challenges of starting over can give you a greater sense of confidence about your career, and whatever life brings your way. Get support. Surround yourself with family and friends and let them know your situation. Stay in contact with those you care about and continue your usual social activities. Although you might not feel like it, now is not the time to avoid people or stop socialising. Your support crew will help you to stay motivated and positive and theyll keep their eyes open for opportunities for you. Its not about you. Jobs, not people, are made redundant. Redundancy is now a common term and accepted as a part of modern working life. Its not a reflection on you or anything you need to feel ashamed about. Set up a HQ. Create an environment that it conducive to your job-search project. Set up a basic office at home that includes access to a phone, stationary, postage supplies, computer and printer. If you have small children or pets keep them out of this area and ask your children not to answer the phone while you are job searching. If you are basing yourself out of a job caf or other facility, be prepared. Make sure that you have the tools you need to apply for jobs that appeal to you, including an up to date resume, referees and an email address. Create an up to date resume. Create a captivating covering letter. Provide a detailed description of the achievements in each of your roles and the timeframes you have been in the role. Provide all contact details including phone number (land line and mobile), email and where possible a fax number. If you dont have a fax at home, find someone close to you i.e. local business and ask them if you can use their number. Get out. Become involved in local networks and community events. Investigate groups that meet regularly in your area and get involved. This is a great way to meet new people, make new contacts and find out about jobs that are available close to home. Mind your language. Avoid using negative words such as unemployed, on the dole and I cant find a job and replace them with positive perspectives such as I will find a job suitable for me. Stay well presented. It only takes seven-seconds to make a first impression. Make the most of your seven-seconds by smiling when you greet someone. Invest in a good suit, if you dont have one, borrow one for interviews; polish your shoes and ensure that your hair is clean and tidy. Its easy to get out of the good-grooming habit when you dont have to do it every day. Remember how important is it both to your self-esteem as well as to peoples first impression of you. Stay motivated. Finding a new job is hard work; treat it as you would any work assignment your fulltime job is finding a new role that you will enjoy. Just as with any job it can be frustrating and especially disappointing when you receive rejection letters. Prepare yourself for the fact that you will receive these. They are not personal. Focus on keeping your goals in your mind and remind yourself constantly that there is a role out there just for you, its only a matter of time until you find it.
